In need of more help... !

I have two O2 boxes and two DLT tape units, adic DS9800d, but I can only get one set up working.

The DLT drives have an LED screen and has Compressed written in the top right hand corner. This is the same for both set ups until after they have booted up and this changes to Standard on one of the units, the other stays as Compressed.

The tape unit which has Standard on it works fine and I can restore without any problems, but the other with Compressed on it has the following error when I try the scanner /dev/rmt/tps1d6nrnsv command.

Scanner: error, rewind Invalid argument

Can anyone tell my this works on one O2 box but not the other? I have tried swapping the units over and the problem stay on the same box. Can the SCSI device be configured and how would I check this?

Thanks for any advice, Nick

I don't know your hardware at all (and especially what an O2 might be) but the device name looks strange to me. NW uses "berkely style, non-rewind device names" so it should read like /dev/rmt/xhbn on Solaris.

Thanks 605,

This device is correct though and it works on the other identical O2 box.

The olny thing I can think of is that the SCSI card has some hardware switches or jumpers??
