I am using a Compaq notebook running Windows 200 Pro. Until yesterday all was well but it now takes over 15 minutes to boot-up and start, and it's impossible do anything useful with the computer. I can't even do a scan disc.
The computer says it's running svchost.exe. but I can't stop it. It's using all the memory. Is this a normal windows file? or a virus?
Has anyone got any idea how to fix things please?

Looks like a virus or malware:
RUn through the steps in the malware faq and run an onlinscan
