I don't look at the home page of tek-tips too often, I generally just enter the perl forum directly. But with nothing going on I decided to look who is TipMaster of the Week (PHV, his stats are enough to give me an inferiority complex!) but low-and-behold on the MVP list on the home page:

MVPs

PHV
lbass
bcastner
gmmastros
johnpoole
SQLDenis
cLFlaVA
BillyRayPreachersSon
KevinADC
TrojanWarBlade

Two perl guys one the list and the perl forum is in the hot forums list too! And "they" have been saying perl is dead for years now. Oh well, enough of tooting my horn. I'll go back to my cell now.

[peace]

Well done Kevin.
I can see that I'm gonna have to watch out for you! ;-)

I get tired of people saying that perl is dead. It's one of the most dynamic and versatile languages available and the development time is amongst the fastest.
Ther are other languages out there that have copied the "perl way" but perl has such a following and such a shared code base (CPAN) that I can't see anything replacing it anytime soon.

Trojan.

If perl is dead, I must be a necrophiliac!

Well done guys - you lot answer a ridiculous number of threads around here. Kev - you mightn't be aware but Trojan was *the* TipMaster of the week the last time I checked, which was about a month ago.

The list has changed since this thread started - we have another representative on it now too:

PHV
lbass
johnpoole
gmmastros
bcastner
SQLDenis
KevinADC
TrojanWarBlade
cLFlaVA
fishiface

Nice one!

Hi ishnid,

yes, I was aware TWB was the TipMaster very recently. Quite an accomplishment and a deserving honor.

And props to fishiface! 3 perl guys on the homepage MVP list is pretty darn cool, if I say so myself. :)

Well Done guys ...

Spend an hour a week on CPAN, helps cure all known programming ailments ;-)

hehehe... I bet some of the other forums are a bit surprised to see perl at the top of the hot forums list:

Hot Forums!

Perl
Microsoft: Access Forms
Nortel: Meridian systems
Microsoft SQL Server: Programming
Microsoft: Windows XP Pro
Microsoft: Office
Javascript
Microsoft: Access Modules (VBA Coding)
Business Objects: Crystal Reports 4 Other topics
Microsoft: Windows 2003 Server

If this were all part of a cunning plan to take over the world, we'd be doing quite well by now!

Congratulations to everyone - and a big thanks to you all for the pleasure and knowledge I get from this forum.

Who knows, maybe one of us will be tipmaster of the week again soon!

WOW!

It's me! Look, mum! [smarty]

(clears throat and tries to look serious again)

Yours,

I have to say that I'm not surprised.
Well done Fish.
Excellent work.
I noticed that you've been posting like mad lately.
But even better, it's been quality as well as quantity.
Keep it up (as the actress said to the bishop!).

Trojan.

stop that straight away!

Totally off topic, but you may enjoy this, broadcast on Radio 4's "Today" Programme on Saturday, just before 9:00.
