My floppy drive has suddenly started thinking that all my disks are write-protected when they're not, so I can't do anything to them other than read them, which it does ok.

Any ideas?

Does this happen at the DOS level a well as in Windows? Try checking or changing the data cable from floppy drive to controller interface. Check for dust and dirt inside the drive. Also, check in the BIOS, as there is sometimes an option to make this drive READ-ONLY.
