So we’re going to upgrade from Info 7.0 to 7.5 (OEM), piece of cake. I’ve heard of lots of people who have made the transition, no problem. We copy the input, output, cache directories and the Cinfo file to another drive, install Info 7.5 on a new box, (Win 2000 from NT 4, gotta keep it interesting), copy back the in, out, cache, Cinfo files to replace the ones Info set up during installation then reboot. All seems well……….
Then the phone starts ringing, I can’t access the system, I can’t schedule my report, etc, etc,
Everything worked after the initial install (tested before released) but then stuff started to happen.
As this is an OEM version, I was stuck in a bit of a predicament, where can I get help? I went to my vendor who told me that they only support Crystal insofar as it applied to their product, and that if we’re using it as a “stand alone” application we should contact CD. Well, while on a support issue with CD regarding Enterprise, I discover there are 13 hot fixes for Info 7.5. Wonder why I’m having problems????
I have a contract with CD for Enterprise support, but have nothing with them regarding my OEM version of Info. So, did they come through?? …….. You Bet, Big Time!!
Anyway, for all the times I’ve cursed CD under my breath, this time they saved my life!
