Howdy,

I have been having this issue for some time now and first chance I have had to post about it. I need some advice about how to fix this situation.

Everytime I boot my PC with a CD in the drive the computer processor spikes to 100% usage. Apparently it says System is using 99% of the CPU.

If I reboot without the CD I have no problem but this is getting annoying. I believe it has something to do with the Sonic software and the DLA, but not familar with what the DLA stuff is and I have a version of the sonic software which is older and won't allow updates or support.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you run the Task Manager and selected the Processes tab to find out what process is hogging the CPU? Look under the CPU field.

Load into safe mode and see if it still does it. If not malware or spyware and then do what bfoj says. Also run this scan below.

Once you have finished that download hijackthis from the link below. Extract to desktop or prefered folder. Open it up and choose do a system scan and save a logfile. Post the logfile on here and we will go through it.

Had exactly the same problem myself this week thread779-1167900
Is this some new kind of virus/malware/general problem?????
My solution was to remove an external DVD R/W and have been fine since (and even reconnected the R/W now and no system)the fixes mentioned in the replies to my post where well worth doing and the new product I bought is fantastic and has speeded my system up no end!!!

Regards, Phil.
