Hello Folks,

I have a windows 98 SE machine. My machine use to shutdown and automatically powered off but recently the past several days it is rebooting upon everytime I shutdown. Any answers?

Thanks,

Smitty

Run MSCONFIG, click the 'advanced' button, activate the 'disable fast shutdown' option.

Note: This option is not always available on all Windows 98 systems.

My memory is not as good as it should be, and neither is my memory.

I have forgotten more than I can remember

Thanks guys for the input. The MSCONFIG change did the job. Appreciate the assistance.

For reference, the link in my 1st post includes the msconfig 'Disable Fast Shutdown' solution, as well as many other solutions to W98 shutdown problems in the event that DFS does not fix the problem.
