Hopefully this issue is resolvable !

I recently purchased a new PC from Mesh Computers, UK incorporating a Connect 3D 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 PRO All In Wonder Adapter and am having great difficulty getting the TV tuner to work.

Attached is more information around the configuration I am running:

Config:

* DX 9.0B installed
* NTSC-J, PAL, and SECAM TV Tuner Hotfix for DirectX 9.0b Patch Applied
* Multimedia Center v8.8
* COAX into CATV connector (COAX pre-tested for signal with portable TV)
* Start TV Channels Initialisation Wizard
* Exhaustive Scan for channels
* Step 1: region United Kingom
* Step 1: Antenna selection checked
* Step 2: Scan ... found no channels
* Ignore Password for Parental Control
* Audio Connections ... connect external line in / line out between soundcard (installed PCI 5.1) and VGA
* Recording Format: ATI VCR

TV initialisation "complete"

I then tried to manually Add Channel ... in my region BBC 1 is at frequency 623.21 MHz (PAL-I) ... again no signal received, just black screen ... sound or noise is heard without any distinction.

One thing I have not done is change any ATI Adapter settings ... is there anything here I could do?

Although I haven't had much time to test ... I have seen no issues with Windows or games.

Does this sound like a faulty adapter? or are there any settings I can change to further test?

Any help would be gratefully received !

Thanks,
SP

One possibility, although it seems remote. I think the ATI specs call for an amplified antenna signal. I do have an amplifier in the basement which boosts the signal and provides 8 outputs. I didn't try the tuner without the amplifier, so I don't know if it makes a difference. Also, I am in US so I have a different broadcast standard.

You could connect a VCR and see if it can pass a signal. It should generate a solid signal if you play a tape. A VCR can also use the component or S-video connections to bypass the tuner.
