i'm thinking of doing a 98/2k pro dual boot, and i had a few questions. 1st of all, do i have to format teh partition(s) i want 2k pro on before i install or will 2k pro format them automatically? secondly, when i have 2k pro installed, will it beable to read the drives that r under 98 now or will i have to reinstall sstuff under 2k pro? thanks

If u want to use NTFS...
-------
U need one partition empty or one ocupied with at least 1GB free space...
then restart and boot with CD support or copy the kitt to HardDrive (do not use setup from Windows only from DOS prompt)
call winnt.exe from the install kitt...
u can convert the partition (if this is not empty) or format it to NTFS...
then all is simple
All programs from 2000 NTFS partition will be hidden from w98,ME,Dos
-------
If u want to use FAT32...
-------
U need at least 1 GB free sapce on a partition( an empty one or a used one with FAT 32)

If u had an w98 or other system w2000 will automaticaly make a multiple boot for you...

If u want to use the same programs both w2000 or w98 u must install them on sepparate partition or the partition witch is visible from all systems and install in w98 in let's say
c:\program files\MyInstal dir and get into w2000 an install them in the same dir c:\program files\MyInstal dir
u will use the same install of tha aplication but if u had one instaled in one system and if u need to acces them u must install it in the new system...

If u have "?" please tell us to help u... ________

In Laman's terms, you are going to want to make sure you create a new partition using the remaining free space you have on your hard drive.

During the install of Windows 2000, you'll have the option to format the new partition (D:) using Fat32 or NTFS. Regardless of which one you choose, Windows 2000 will be able to read your C: drive that has Win98 installed. If you choose NTFS, then Win98 won't be able to see the new partition at all.

NTFS is good for securing files and access to your D: partition.

Basically, you just want to make sure you have Win98 on the first partition and Windows 2000 on the second.
