Does anybody out there know if there is there a way to control how long the backlight stays on for a 9640 on an IP Office? The 46xxsettings.txt file indicates that the backlight control feature does not work on a 9640 or 9640G model. Is there a way around this or is this a fixed timer within the phone itself? Thanks in advance for any help.

No fix or workaround as far as I know, for some reason Avaya has a very hard time making any backlight timer work with the IP Office, I don't know why :-)

ACSS Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Communications

I've just bought a brand new car and on the way out of the dealership the engine seized, they want £2000 paid in advance to look at it which they will keep if they can find a way to blame me for it......Remind you of anything :-)

You need to set it from the phone itself.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Where do you set it on the phone itself? I've been through it and didn't find anything about the backlight.

On a 9640 press the most right button of the top 4.
Then go to telephone setting.
Some where over there is an option for it.
You can turn it off or set it for 30 or 60 minutes.

Sorry to disagree with you, but the 9640 that I have does not have that option on it. I pressed the far right button directly under the display and went through every option and didn't find anything about the backlight.

I think it is called different.
There is also an option to lock the phone after a certain time.
It is the first option.
It will turn of the display and not turn the light of.
But it helps at night :-)

The CM guys complain too.
firmware 3.0 had a working backlight timer.
So hopefully it will work well in the future.

You're referring to the Auto Return timer which controls when your phone returns to the main screen. The options are in fact disabled, 30 sec, or 60 secs but it has nothing to do with the backlight.

I will have a look on monday.
I have seen a 9600 screen go black.
