I work for a large community college with two campus locations in the same town. We have a Definity R6.3 at each campus tied together via ISDN using DCS+. Currently, if someone dials 911 the call goes to the E911 response center and the police department responds. At the same time the campus police are alerted via the crisis alert feature on an attendant console. Here's the problem: Crisis alert only provides the extension number and name of the 911 caller to the campus police. They then have to access a spreadsheet to find where the caller is located on the campus. This takes time. I am looking for a way to provide additional location information to the campus police (building, floor and room) via a screen pop or some other method. Any ideas?

I wonder if will work:

setup a ip softphone for a x ported extension (with crisis alert on it) on the campus polices computer.

If you integrate Outlook with the IP phone AND have all your users listed as Contacts. The user contact page may pop up when the ip phone recieves the call. In the Outlook contact page for each user, you can put whatever information you want on the person or office...i.e. "This user has heart problems and called 911 01/01/04." or just keep it simple and have a location.

I currently use a ip softphone at my desk and when ever someone calls in that is in my contacts (caller id needed) their contact page comes up. It may be time comsuming to enter both campuses in and keep it up to date...but it is worth it in the end.

Good idea, but sorry to say, we are at Release 6.3. This is pre-IP.

GAH!!!1 Maybe you can hook a analog phone line to pc that has a caller id software on it...some CID softwares allow you to enter in names and numbers with specific info. It is meant for more of customer service depts...so they know who is calling and have all their info pop up in front of them...

I'm just thinking outloud here. I would go to the local Emergency response center and ask what they use for E911. I think they use cama trunks and some sort of software to intergrate with the CAMA trunks. Maybe they can point you in the correct direction or If there is a God they may be able to cross notify your security force as a professional Courtesy

Hope this make sense
