I have an HP 17inch laptop. All the connectors come out of the side and tend to get squashed against the arm of my armchair. So I am looking for a USB cable with the cable at 90 degrees to the connector. Similarly for the power jack.

Any suggestions please (UK preferabby)

Gavin

Excellent (post is a bit high to UK from those sites but it showed me what too search for).

I am glad it helped. I missed your UK preference until after I posted. Good luck in your quest.

Thanks tf1, I found that and some other examples easily once Freestone's post had given me the glue to Google for flexible or adjustable. I have a couple of concerns with this type of solution:
1. flexible in two directions means lots of connections or flexing - how long will it last?
2. I was hoping for a simple connector projecing a mimimum amount out of the USB slot and with the cable coming out at right angles. To quote the review on the link TF1 posted:
Even with the adjustable connector bent round as far as it will go you don't actually save much space which is the whole point of this lead & type of connector surely?! You probably save about 10 millimeters which hardly seems worth it. I'd rather have a fixed left/right angle connector that is much shorter to maximise the space saving advantage. These type of connectors/leads are available .... but not it seems in the UK!

It is much easier to find right angle plugs for the power lead but (a) I have not yet worked out what size the socket is - probably 1.65mm pin in the centre (HP Pavillion dv8215EA) (b) ideally i want a convertor lead rather than to have to make it up myself.

Thanks again,

Gavin

I know what you mean about reliability. The flexible joints will obviously be a weak point on the connector, so long term reliability may be a problem.

If you do manage to find an elbow connector, I bet it bends in the wong direction though! I've always hated SCART connectors because the cable comes out at right-angles and invariably fouls other cables in an AV setup. I would like to find quality SCART connectors that come out straight! At least HDMI cables are begining to take over and are much more sensible.
