How do I add a headset to a 8410D? I tried to put "headset" on a spare button but it didn't like it.

You use a plantronics or Lucent amplifier. The amp will either go in the handset jack or plug into the aux port on the bottom. For the plantronics setups, you will need a handset lifter. For the lucent amps in the aux port, you will not need a lifter. Only a power supply.

In the future everything will work...

You cant add a headset button to an 84XX. That feature was created for the 64XX phones. You can still use the headset, just lift the handset.

I believe you can also get an 8400 SOTA and connect that to the adjunct port on the phone.

AT&T 502C amplifier plugged into the adjunct port is the best solution for the 84XX phones. Also requires a P10 prong plug unit.

Challenge is that these are no longer being manufactured and it's tougher and tougher to find resellers with the equipment available.

Whatever you do, DONT GET A AT&T 502AM! The M's are the devil.

In the future everything will work...

500a, 500a1, 500am, plus power supply and adapter, 502's are for 7300 series Hybrid sets.

10 points from fOnetech.

Thanks to all for repling, I think I get it now.
