WE RECIEVED A REPAIR FOR 13 8410S THAT HAD BAD SPEAKERS. WE TESTED THE BOARDS AND FOUND NO REASON THE SPEAKER WOULDN'T WORK. WHILE SITTING, STARING AT THE BOARDS, THE SPEAKER DECIDED TO WORK. IF WE PLUG THESE PHONES INTO OUR SWITCH AND PLUG AND UNPLUG THE BOARDS ABOUT 10 TIMES-THE SPEAKER STARTS WORKING AGAIN. ITS ALMOST LIKE THEY ARE RECIEVING A DOWNLOAD FROM OUR SWITCH. ANYONE EVER HEARD OF THIS???

Yep,

The 8400 en 6400 series pjones get their soundlevel settings from the DEFINITY. if you go in to the DEFINITY adn give the command DISPLAY TERMINAL-PARAMETERS 8400 you should see the settings.
There are country codes for specific countries, but you can also customise these setting.
On page 3 of the DISPLAY FEATURE ACCES CODE you should see the REFRESH TERMINAL PARAMETERS ACCES CODE with this acces code followed by the extension number you'll download the parameters manually, otherwise the DEFINITY will do this ones it runs some maintenance routines.

Hope this helps

When we send them back will their switch knock out the speakers again?

Depends, they'll have to check their switc settings, or have their avaya rep. check it.

just another quick question-when the mute comes on when the speaker is activated where do you go to change it? An enduser told me to go in and enable the speaker, disable it, unplug the phone, then go back in and enable it again but that didn't work.

In station form if you set one-way speaker you will have mute LED on always.
Change station and set two-way speaker.

Our testing switch is set to 2-way speaker but it still does the same thing.

May be you have 8403 type of phone in station form?
