This is my first posting so here goes.....

I finally decided to upgrade from internet dial-up (ISDN) to ADSL. So I have just taken delivery of a 837 box in advance of the ADSL line becoming available - first things first!!!

Anyway, I thought that I would power up the 837 NOW (out of sight of my "faithful" 801) and see what happens.

Without an ADSL line to plug into I noticed that the ADSL LEDS - RXD and TXD were "blinking fast" - It must be trying to find a live ADSL connection, so I issued the shutdown command for interface ATM0. I would then have expected to see just the OK LED on with all other LEDS off. This did not happen and RXD/TXD continued to blink fast.

Has anyone else found the same thing happen? I have looked into the docs but cannot find any reference to what I have described above. Could it be a bug?

Yep it does happen don’t know why but it does until you have a ADSL Carrier Detect..

Thanks for your reply.

I guess I will just have to wait for the ASDL line to become active. I would still have expected the "shutdown" command to do something on the ATM0 interface. Oh well, at least my new 837 seems to be doing what the engineers told it to do!!
