I'm currently ONLY able to console into this router cause I think it's got a serious problem. This was given to me recently and I am trying to revive it from the dead. Here's the current boot up:

That's it. I know there's supposed to be a config register line and then a router prompt that show. Anyone have any idea why this is doing this? And please, someone tell me what to do besides "Calling Cisco" and "Buy a new one/replacement" cause IF there is any other possible way to fix this I would be glad to try something.

So far I have tried an ios-conf=142 and have tried 'reset' command. I don't have any fresh images to upload into the router. I even opened up the router casing and popped out the chip or whatever it is that comes out and then turned on the router without it to see if it would reset it or something. It does the same exact thing over and over. Seems like nothing is budging.

Thanks so much for any help.

zenaphex,
Looks like you've got a bug in your IOS. This is a known bug in this version of IOS. Check out the cisco URL:

The solution is to replace the IOS image with a new version. You'll need a CCO login if you want to download it from the cisco website. Otherwise contact your cisco supplier to see if they can arrange for a replacement IOS image.

Oh wow. I never realised it was a possible bug related issue. :p Thanks for the tip Jimmyzz! Only problem is that I don't have a CCO login. Like I said it was donated to me and it's way out of warranty. DOH! Hopefully I can get an IOS somehow or another. It would be a shame to this excellent piece of equipment go to waste. :)
