802.1x Client Issues

I am trying to set up 802.1x authentication on a 2950 switch. When a client (Windows XP) boots up the authentication works fine and the port goes into the authorized state but if a client is disconnected from the network they are unable to re-authenticate unless they reboot. Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated
