I'm trying to get into rommon on a 7513 router? I have tried the following keys; break, Ctrl+break, Ctrl+F6+break, still no luck. Im using windows 98 hyperterminal and Powerterm32. Any suggestions. Thanks

I have experienced the same problem using hyperterminal. There is a nice little terminal emulator for windows called terminal.exe and this will work nicely, it is available as a free download from a number of websites. Locate a copy using the best search engine around "google". The sequence is either alt/brk or cntl/brk

It's Ctrl+Break, but still no luck. Anybody else have suggestions, thanks.

Late reply, but Route processor card was defected. Replace rpc card, router is functional.

Download the emulator called Teraterm , this is a great emulator . The break sequence does work great on this , if it still doesn't work then there is some problem with your computer . Everyone at our site use this emulator to configure cisco equipment .

Are you using an older version of VT100 emulation?

Key strokes on some older versions are different and do not respond the same. I had a similar problem and upgraded to the latest version of Hyperterminal and it all works okay now.

Hi, It is possible to emulate a break key sequence by altering the baud rate of your terminal session... Try this.

Open up your terminal and set baud rate to 1200 8-n-1 no (f/c). Now press the space bar on your keyboard for about 15 seconds.

Then reset your terminal to standard baud (9600 default) 8-n-1. and you should find that you have sent a break to the router.

Good luck,
Fil.

If everything is coming your way then you're in the wrong lane.
