7206 Crashes When 2nd Fast Enet Port on PA-2FE-TX is No Shut

Hello, we are running a 7206 VXR on our host. We have a dual port FE card and two FE's on the I/O controller on this router, along with a dual port HSSI and 8 port v.35 serial card. We are using 1 FE on the I/O controller and 1 FE on the dual port card. We need to use the other two FE ports, but whenever we no shut the 2nd FE on the dual port card, the router reloads. We have had a Cisco ticket opened for a month and they say they have never seen this before. We have changed IOS and every card has been replaced.

Surely someone in the world is using a 7206 VXR with the 2 FE's on the I/O controller and 2 FE's on a dual port card without crashing the router? Cisco says no, but I can't believe we are this unique. Anyone running a similar setup?

You should try asking this question on the cisco-nsp mailing list. I'm quite sure you'll get some good responses there. There are lots of 7200 users on that list, as well as plenty of Cisco engineers.

make sure you're not overloading the pci bus..

you have 600 bandwidth points per bus..
