Has anyone seen this issue? I am on release 7.5, and trying to load the 7.5 linux SP patch, according to this fix it should work without changing the file name on 7.5 I changed it as per this fix anyway but it still did not go in. I a getting the same error saying it is not a "Service Pack Bundle"
All my other patches and LW went in fine, and in the proper order, just this last one isn't going in. This is also an already installed and working system, we are just updating patches. Thanks.

DETAILS
Customer was receiving the following error while attempting to update to the latest Linux SP: "Linux_7.00_20_20120829.ntl is not a service pack bundle."
/var/opt/nortel/patch/sp sploadService_Pack_Linux_7.00_20_20120829.ntl
This command will load all the SUs and patches contained in the SP (Service_Pack_Linux_7.00_20_20120829.ntl).
Do you want to proceed? (Y/N) [N]? y
/tmp/sp/Service_Pack_Linux_7.00_20_20120829.ntl is not a service pack bundle.
PROBLEM CLARIFICATION
All steps to install the SP were followed correctly as per the Putty logs sent by the customer. All three base patches were installed in proper order, all proper directories used, and no typos. The SP was downloaded three times from ESPL: once by Business Partner, and twice by customer technician, which ruled out download corruption of the file.
CAUSE
The first period after the "7" in the filename was causing the SP to not be read correctly.

SOLUTION
Remove the first period in the filename. Period before extension must remain. This was tested on two lab systems but was only replicated on one. On the 7.65 lab system the period had to be removed for successful installation. On the 7.5 lab system it installed even without renaming the file. Renaming the file to remove the period on the customer's 7.0 system allowed the Service Pack to be recognized properly and install.
Please note that the installation of a Linux Base Service Pack is service affecting and should be done during non-business hours whenever possible.

must say i have always just downloaded then then just change the .zip to .ntl

You say it is for 7.5 but the file name looks incorrect a 7,5 example might be

SP_7.5_24.ntl

Yes this fix came from another system running 7.0. I figured I'd give it a try on my 7.5 system and changed it to SP_75_24.ntl
The file I used is the correct file, it's the 7.5 linux SP (SP_7.5_24.ntl)
I agree, there shouldn't be much to it other then changing the file to .ntl and loading it.. but of course nothing is easy..lol
Thanks

so you put the 3 pre patches on before loading the SP?
linuxbase
baseweb
patchweb

You tried just sftp SP_7.5_24.ntl using the admin2 login to "/var/opt/nortel/patch/sp" then login as admin2 and just type

spload SP_7.5_24.ntl
then spins

Nortel/Avaya recommends the SP loaded from Patch Manager, not command line. # base patches go in via command line but the SP should be done via Patch Manager

That is true KCFLHRC it was just an option as when you use the CLI you can obviously see a lot more information and maybe even the reason for failure. When you do it from the UCM/SMGR just have to wait for it to complete or fail. Both ways work BTW but if you can follow the recommendation and use the security server to deploy the SP.
