I have a 4.1 MICS with a Rel 01 NVRAM that I'd like to replace with a 7.0/Rel 02 NVRAM. I don't care about losing system programming. When I swapped in the 7.0/Rel 2 it sat and sat to where I got paranoid (10 mins with all phone blinking). I hadn't removed all the expansion cards (clock, combo, DS, T1) when I did that. Is it right/best to unseat all the cards prior to doing this?
I have since tried the 4.1 software in the Rel 02 NVRAM cart and it came up fine. Keeping the cart in, I swapped in the 7.0 software and all I get is the blinking. What obvious detail am I missing?
if you dont care about saving the programming/keycodes on the norstar
do a startup on 4.1
when it says applying template - power off
replace with new cartridge and sw
power on
if you wanted to save prog ..backup...replace nvram with new ...restore... then proceed to 4.1 to 6.1 then 7
i ski there for i am

When you do an upgrade from the lower software (saving prgramming or not) I've found out it could take the RLS 7 up to 30 minutes before it comes up. My point is in the future don't panic if it is not working in the first 10 minutes. Hope everythings working now.
Senk1s - I just purchased the latest upgrade tools and I'm upgrading from a XC1.1 to XC7.1. Do I need the actual 4.1xc & 6.1xc software? I have been told to stop at 4.1 & 6.1 but I don't know if I need the actual software or not. Tks.
