6509 Core switch question

Hi -

Could I populate an xtra 2 gig blade in my 6509 Core which is already running 9 10/100 blades existing? We have MSFC cards, and Sup Engines incorporated.

Will you be removing one of the 100/100 blades as the chassis is already fully-populated? If so I don't see a problem.

Hi CK-

No, I think we'll just add the GIG blade to it an not remove anything. So, what manages this gig blade? the MSFC ? and/or the Sup Engine?

The cards are all managed by the supervisor , the msfc only controls layer 3 routing functions .
