Hi,

Im having a really bad day and its only 8.00am.
The MSFC card failed on our 6500. No problems really I have had to rebuild it from a spare chasis that we have for emergancy spares.

It had previously been configured as another 6500 on our network. I swapped the Flash cards and rebuilt the Router engine(MSFC). Great took about hr.

I have put the MSFC back in the original chasis..... OH NO.....

The chasis catos now has the config of the second switch. All the vlans are incorrect there were different cards in it....

I have made sure that the flash cards havent been mixed up ...they havent.

Looks as if i have to rebuild the chasis....

Can anyone guide me as to what the command should be to save the catos config of the chasis to the flash card in slot0. if it can be done

This is in the config

#set boot command
set boot config-register 0x2
set boot system flash bootflash:cat6000-supcdk8.7-5-1.bin
set boot system flash slot0:cat6000-supcv.5-5-5.bin
set boot system flash slot0:cat6000-sup.5-4-2.bin
!

How can I see what is on the flash card.

Then I can make sutre that this doesnt happen agin.

Thanks in advance

To see what is on the card do a "dir slot0: " . This should tell you what is on the card . You are not clear if you are trying to save the mfsc config or the layer 2 config. To save the msfc config type "copy runn sup-slot0: "
To save the layer 2 side do a "copy config flash: , it will ask where you want to put it (default is bootflash) enter slot0: instead .

Thanx Vipergg..

So to copy them back as a running config the commands would be copy xxx-slot0 runn: where xxx is the filename...

What would the layer 2 be.....

Please excuse the ignorance but not done this before... and as they say "a bit of knowledge a day keeps the P45 at Bay "

Cheers
