Running Win 2000 pro on a Dell Optiplex GX300
Trying to salvage old data from 6GB drive that was running win95.
I have the old drive set as master on my 2nd IDE.
Bios sees it,
Device Manager sees it and says devive working properly.
Shows up as D:in My Computer.
When I try to access it, it says drive not formatted.
I'm going to see if it still boots in the old pc, mean while, am I missing something obvious?[ponder]

Sounds like maybe a BIOS problem check to see if the BIOS has a slave or driver. I would take a look at the BIOS in the setup and updated the driver.

See if you can access it from win9x boot floppy.

Run drive manufacturer's diagnostic utility on it.

Didn't have goback installed did it? Or overlay software?

You are correct in thinking 2k should just read it - if none of the above any use, you may need a data recovery app if drive is still actually functional.
