Haven't done it with the Overlay.. but like you say, you get newer versions of imanager, vo, etc...

They change the way VO and eguide is managed, be aware of that if you install the new version.

I've also seen some major problems with SP3 on systems with more than 2GB ram.. The first few systems I upgraded were fine, but I've had stability and leak issues on some recent ones. There are TIDS out there, and if you look at the Novell forums you'll see tons of posts regarding leaks and stability.

Novell is supposed to be releasing a patch soon.

seen a few bits on it
afraid all ours are above 2gb ram

not seen any issues yet but too early to tell
just trying to get all up to date though

Hi guys. The only difference is the iManager. We have installed OES on all our web servers (6) and another six of our print and file servers. Two have GroupWise 6.5 running without any problems. All our servers have 2GB memory except for one that has 5GB. We start our upgrades across the board in two days. About 50 servers will be upgraded from 6.0 to OES. I can let you know how things progress.

Please let us know Louis.
OES is only 6.5 SP3 with newer web apps (iMan, VO)

After my SP3 upgrades, file access seemed much faster.
Maybe I was dreaming. Im giving the servers a week then...
One is doing File, Print, Cifs.
The other runs only Groupwise 6.5 SP4

Remote Manager flies............
fast updates on the console screens...

So far fourteen servers upgraded. Each server takes around 60 to 90 minutes to upgrade. Servers that are NW6.0 SP2 and higher seems quicker on the upgrades. I am choosing to install the current Apache, Tomcat 5, and SNMP with this upgrade.

Quirks found so far:
1. On one server the upgrade went to the end and displayed the message that the install was closing, but nothing happened. I decided I would exercise patients and moved on to another server that completed with out issues. Went back to the server with the message to find the message was still there (35 minutes). Toggled through the screens to find a PERL install screen that said "Press enter to continue". Pressed enter and the upgrade closed and rebooted the server as it should. A different server did this, but did not re-boot. I re-booted the server, which did not appear to affect it, and it completed with out any ill side effects.

2. On about half of the servers I had to run PKIDIAG and update the Certs. Not a problem, but I would suggest doing it before the upgrade anyway.

3. If upgrading a virtual server on VMWare, set aside a copy of the LSI drivers. After the first re-boot you will need to PF8 at startup and put back the two original (older) drivers "LSIMPTNW.DDI" and "LSIMPTNW.HAM" into C:\NWSERVER\DRIVRERS. If you don't the server will just keep failing and rebooting. Typical problem for those familiar with VMWare.

Suggestions:
1. If you are using Proliant servers apply the CPQDPLOY after the upgrade.

2. Run a DSREPAIR to clean up after.

If anything else comes up in the next few weeks I'll update.

You have to import your Certificate Authority into your 'Trusted Root Certificate Authorities' certificate store.

You do it when you get the Security propmt in IE. Make sure you install the ORGANIZATIONAL CA, not the certificate.
