QXP6.1, OSX.2.8, Suitcase X. When printing get an error saying XXXX font is damaged...(ALL FONTS). Job still prints...worrying, and a pain, but job prints ok...any ideas?

You should be using Suitcase X1. Try upgrading.

As I understood it, X1 is a specific upgrade for OSX.3.x.

I do have a mac on the network I have upgraded as a tester today...same problem happens.

Thanks anyway!

Using Quark 6.1a?

was unaware there was another update...will try now...thanks

Can't find on Quark website....any further info on where to download?

6.1a update is the PDF dylib...it is actually the 6.1 download...confusing...but thats Quark for you.

Yours was not the first concern about odd fonts in Q6. Browse this forum for more. I was just checking if your workflow was printing through PDF and if the update would help.

Is Quark presenting the error or your printer driver/RIP? What happens when you change printers or export to PDF instead?

Quark may have tweaked the 6.1 update to include the PDF patch by now.

Hi Jimbo,
Thanks for the info...the error happens if I am writing postscript or printing to RIP. Driver for both are functioning ok. This error occurs only on 6.1 Quarks...seems to be a feature.
All fonts are undamaged, checks are run on a regular basis.
Cheers

Jimbo, thanks for trying to help...have tracked down error now.

Mac OS X only: QuarkXPress now classifies a font as corrupt if the Font ID and Font Family ID are different. This may cause an alert to display stating that a font (that is otherwise usable) is corrupt.

Direct from Quark.

from what I have been told...

The problem are fonts that have been around since OS8. These fonts got damaged because of a system 8 error. OS9 didn't react to the damaged font whereas OSX - Suitcase does. The problem is all the bootleg fonts that everybody has been copying and trading are corrupt. Stone, Myriad causing major problems for anyone!? The problem is fixed by simply using the disc that the font was originally purchased. Who the hell has one of those!? From what I hear the problem is only going to get worse instead of better. How do you tell a client that they either have to buy the font for hundreds of dollars or pick a different font?
