I have installed a NetGear RM456 56k router with 4-port hub using 3 @ HP pc's and 1 @ clone pc, all running Win98se with TCP/IP using 10/100TX PCI adapters for web access & email. Click on IE [5.5] or OE5 icon and the router dials out, but msg "cannot find server etc etc" always occurs after about 20 seconds while the router is still connecting to the DEMON server.
'About:blank' home page doesnt cure it, but retrying the explorer icon a second time , or the refresh [F5] button within OE5 succeeds every time. Netgear say that the MS settings need to be altered, but have nothing to offer re what settings to alter?
The clone PC also has an external USR Courier V.Anywhere modem that connects first time everytime without errors.
can anyone offer any ideas before I get scalped by heavy handed end users? many thanks for anything that comes back.
