5610SW won't go into programming mode

I several 5610s that when plugged in, go immediately to DHCP and do not offer '* to program', they do not respond to 'MUTE reset#'. Any ideas? I have connected the phones to our bench system and they accept DHCP from it and work but this is not what the customer wants. TIA
 
I have the same and i cannot get it working.
I do not know what causes it and i do not know how to solve it.

Once they have received a "46xxsettings.txt" file where the local admin feature was locked. Only with a "46xxsettings.txt" file you can reset this.
Read the LanAdmin guide from Avaya.

Sorry, perhaps you can direct me to something specific in the guide to look at? The file you linked is rather old I have a newer one I am looking at, but at 155 pages, I am not sure what to look for. Thanks
 
check the LAN settings and see what IP it is, I reckon its got a fixed IP and all other settings are DHCP.

then you might have to configure a DHCP server and send up the appropriate 46xxsettings file

The phone does get a DHCP addy from our Bench system. I believe the PROCSTAT setting is restricting me from access 46xxsettings.txt, I just have to figure out how to force the phone to load a new file which disables the restriction
 
HSM, no that is not the problem.
The phone itself works and gets an ipaddress from a dhcp server when it is cleared but the * to program just does not come back.
