hello all,

We are trying to install 5 5601 phones on a 406. We have to make use of an external DHCP server (sbs2003). Appereantly there is an issue when using an external dhcp server. Does anybody know what this issue is and how this can be solved??

thanks!

Arnoud

why use DHCP, assign it an address in a range thats not being given out by the dhcp server

the 5601 doesn't have a display it isn't possible to assign a static IP to it.

Take Care

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Thanks for your replies;

We normally have no issues with the IP phones using the DHCP server but we never used the 5601 so far. According to our distri, there are known issues in this setup, but it's unclear what they are. They say it will work as long as you use the IP Office as your dhcp server, which isn't an option for our customer. As soon as you don't use the IPO, problems start...

Think the solution in that case would be to put the IPO on it's own subnet to allow it to distribute IP adresses to your IP phones without conflicting with the other users.

or use 5602 phones
why use 5601 ???
are they that much cheaper ???
