I'm currently trying to install asyncronous, carrier controlled fiber optic modems into the console port on my catalyst 5500 supervisor engine III. I'm not too familiar with serial comms but i have followed all the directions and made new cables according to patton's manual and cisco's manual with no luck. I get nothing. I'm using a db-9 to rj-45 converter and a cable i made according to the manuals. That hooks up the first modem and it's led illuminates when using hypertrm. The other modem is connected to the console port with a cable i made and rj-45 connection.

I've been working on this for almost 2 days now and am just curious if there is anyone out there that has ever run into this or has any helpful advice. Thank you in advance.
