We have a customer on an IP500(4v0(10))using 5410's, who is complaining that when they dial, they don't always get a tone from the phone when dialling, as they aren't looking at the number on the screen, just listening, this causes them to think they've mis-dialled, does anyone know if there is a fix for this (I did a firmware upgrade on the phones when they were first plugged in)

i have noticed this as well if you are dailing very fast. I have not had customer complpaints yet. Not sure how to fix it.

I have had this raised with Avaya.

At the point where by you recieve a set up ack back from the exchange the ipo doenst return dtmf for the digit you are pressing at that time.

Case rejected as not really that bothered.

It usually happens on the first digit.

Not really that bothered?
That's nice, maybe every customer that complains about it should send an email to Avaya :)
One would think that it should be an easy problem to fix.

Sorry, it usually happens on the fourth digit (because your dial delay count is set at 4, when you hit four digits it starts doing things.)

Are you using Dial Delay Time 0 since we don't get this our system with the value set to 2s.

On notice there is a CQ for IP phones don't giving tone when the call hits the ARS.

I know this sounds silly. Ever tried pressing mute before you dial.

Try it tell me what you get.

what I do is set 9 or 0 to access the ARS with secondary dial tone and each key press after that is heard.

works a treat

this is an issue i found yesterday, its to do with the speaker, it only occurs when you dial from handsfree, try it with the handset up and you will find it works a ok

yes i would agree with andy and TP, i would say this is true because it now seems that the phones are not full duplex, so if you have any background noise at all (and i mean at all) you will not hear anything coming from the phone because it thinks you are talking.

I raised this for digital phones in 4.0(5). The answer was as following:
"This is due to the live keypad on the DS Terminals, the noise reduction on handsefree will reduce the number of keypad tones if dialled quickly. If you press mute or use it with the handset up it works fine. There are no options availailable to change this."

After that the DS-Phones got the new 5.0 Firmware and I think this is not completely gone, but it happens not that often.

Now for 4.0(7), I raised a simmilar problem for IP-Phones where the 4th key gives now feedback. This is what PG said before. And this is even better to hear on the handset than in speakerphone. But if I try now with my 5610 on 4.1(9) this does not happen.

It happend with me on 4.1.9
You do not dial fast enough :)
I can not be bothered but he who am i
