5402 Ringer Off

Is it possible to turn off the ringer on a 5402?

Why would you want to do this? It's a phone, it's designed to ring when someone calls it! I assume you have turned the ringer right down!

Its in a recording studio and they need to be able to disable the ringer, flashing light ring would be nice but i dont think you can do that either on a 5402

You could try to use Ring delay on the user under the tlephony tab.

Ring Delay: Default = Blank (Use system setting), Range = 0 (use system setting) to 98 seconds, Software level = 3.2+.
This setting is used when any of the user's programmed appearance buttons is set to Delayed ringing. Calls received on that button will initially only alert visually. Audible alerting will only occur after the ring delay has expired.

5602 IP phones will allow you to turn the ringer off but not 5402's.

Or they will on 4.2 anyway.

I noticed that too

The 1600 do silence and i thought the 54xx and not the 56xx to be honest

But i am not sure (can't test now)

Must be 4.2

I noticed it on a 4.2 install (ip firmware 2.8.something!!). press the Vol Down and eventually the ringer goes off. not sure about 5610's. Going there today so might give it a go on them.

I like the fact that the date and time is displayed all the time on 4.2 5410's. Shame they didn't do it on 56xx's!!!

You could make a virtual number, programm a bridged appereance button on the 5402 put it on No Ring and route the ICR to the virtual number.

For internal, programm a short code with the extension number dail to the virtual number.
