51C: Asset or Boat Anchor?

Has anyone out there seen any market for an Option 51C? Or is this just a really big crab pot anchor?

In the UK, There are hardly any 51c's left. Most were upgraded or replaced with a 11c system.

My suggestion would be to sell it for parts. You can do a Google search to find vendors world wide that might be interested in buying it all or just some of the pieces. What ever you don't sell you can take to a recycle yard and hopefully get a few bucks to have a party with.

Last supported release for the 51C is 4.5 and Nortel just announced End-of-Life (no support, no repair) as of 1 July 2008.

Sorry to jump in, but has anyone upgraded a 51C to an 11C? Can you just copy the Cust DB from the 51 and then upload it to the 11? If so how do you convert the superloop and TN mismatches? If not how long do you reckon it would take to programe from scratch a 3 cab 11c? Just curious

i usually plan .5 hours perstation, that would be turn key.. cdb bars rdb's stations etc.. and you will have to either keystroke or use scripts... with scripts i usually can add 150 stations per hour, with names

51 to 11? Wouldn't that be a downgrade?

Before I got here, we upgraded a 51 to a 61. I think the main reason was to get dual core redundancy.

We went from a 51C to an 11 with multiple (fiber interconnected) cabinets because it was cheaper than trying to upgrade the 51C's ancient software.

Reprogramming switchs with different platforms can only be done with specialist conversion programs using listings taken from the system. Even then a great deal of modification will be required to map it onto the new system.
