Hi, I know there's been posts in the past and I've read them all.

However, I have the latest version of firmware, every other IP phone works, 1616, 4620's, 4630's etc. I'm using CM4, but these 4690's just say Discovering and wont register with the server.

I've tried using fixed ip addresses. The phones connect to the tftp server and download the settings file, I've tried different cisco switches. I've tried them on different VLAN's.

Anybody know what Discovering means!!! and how to resolve the issue.

Many Thanks

Phones can't find the call server, make sure that the MCIPADD is set in DHCP Scope option 176 as a CLAN IP address, option 176 needs to be in both the VLAN scope for the IP range your phone is trying to get an address for and also the native VLAN for the switch port it's initially connecting to.

Thanks, still got probs. we have 4 x 4690's one of them works and is connected fine, the other 3 don't connect. All connected to the same cisco switch, pointing to the same dhcp scope and they don't work whether we fix the MCIPADD on the phone or use DHCP.

I could see the point if all 4 failed, but the fact that one of them works is strange!!!

Woohoo...all you need to do is 0.0.0.0 the DHCP address and the file server address and it came up first time.

No idea why but don't really care, lolol
