on an s8100, my ip phone 4620sw ip at home is working but i would lose the dial tone after approx 20 minutes and everytime i have to reset the phone to restore it...note i still have the display when i lose the dial tone...

The dial tone comes from the UDP ports on the Network region page. Can you still make calls? Can you access the internet? If you are behind a small router, set the connection to "keep Alive". It could be a lot of things disconnecting you.

In the future everything will work...

thank you for your reply NX01, i can no longer make any call once i lose the dial tone. i am connected to the internet and vpn my way to the s8100 clan. i am behind a cisco pix 501 and i could not find any keep alive setting...

Perhaps the Pix is blocking icmp packets. Can you ping the clan and medpro? Have you tried port forwarding the UDP ports and TCP ports to your phone IP.

In the future everything will work...

thank you again...here's my network region setting on keep alives
keep alive interval - 5 seconds
keep alive count - 5
idle traffic interval - 20 seconds

port forwarding? do you mean port forwarding to be done on the pix?
pinging the clan/medpro? sometimes i do get a reply...most of the times no reply...

That may be your problem. On the Pix, you may have to port forward 1719 udp, 1720 tcp and the UDP port range on the ip network region in the pbx to the IP addy of the 4620.

In the future everything will work...
