i have an issue that i was wondering if soomeone can shed some light.
have a GigaMAN connection from carrier - handoff on both WAN locations is already fastEth 100Mb - right to the switch on both ends.
have dot1q encap running between the trunk ports on 6509 and 4507.
added the new 4507 on existin vtp domain. -works great - i can see everything. and now i can add any port on the new sw on any existing vlan.
prob is this - a specific vlan - if i add the 5 devices at the remote - i cant ping the same vlan devices accross the wan.
ifi i do a trace or ping - i cant even get to the first hop.
since i am just passing vlan info across the link - then the L3 routerat the main location should be the gateway.. and it is.
i checked all 15 devices on vlan64 - half are at the new location - and its strange - on the same network number - cant ping across the link to the right place. - but its only for this vlan - all others are fine. ?
its strange since doesnt follow a pattern. the only thing specific about this new vlan - is that this vlan is assigned to the call managers - VoIP - and the other 18 VLANs' are pcs/servers - shouldnt make a diff.
anyyone see anythign like this.
and on a maybe related note - when trunking l2 across two switches - do i need to setup channel-group ?
any help would be good.
thanks.
