Sorry to resurrect an/some old threads. I hate when you search for something and cant find the answer, kinda like this XKCD Comic -

I searched on a few place and could not find how to do this. The old thread referenced the manual -

and said there was no way to change the ringer. Well I read through it and there is a way. It's on page 20. "To select a ring pattern for your telephone: Ext + lift handset + #00 + Ext + *32 + ring ( 1-8) + #*00"

What I did was made sure the phone had Ext Ring -I / Ext Voice -I / SA Ring programmed to a button. Once programed just follow the instructions. Press the ext button and lift the handset, then press #00 and the telephone will make the beep beep program noise, then press the ext button again and press *32, from there you will see "Personal Ring" menu appear with Pat#1-Pat#8 if you cycle with the arrows. Select the ringer you want and press enter(on the phone). Then press #*00 to save and finish the programming.

the manual you found was for Merlin Magix not for IP Office use. as the #00 is not working on IP Office for programming mode it makes it pretty easy to spot
The 4400 series has what it has on ringing because just like the Nortel phones they were made work on IP Office but not 100%, a lot of functions have been lost when they started using them on IPO.

I personally loved the 4400 phones as they were rock solid and you could throw them on the wall, pick them up and they still worked fine.

6400 phones were even better considering they were 10 years ago almost twice the price of todays 9508 phone with inflation it is more than double the price. Prices have come down so much for all the electronics but also the quality has declined, throw it out after 4 or 5 years and buy a new one rather than make something that lasts seems to be the motto.

Ah, well seems most people have a greater understanding of these phones than I do! I believe we are on an analog (POTS) to digital lines through an add-on card. So seemingly my ringer change applies to only similar setups!

They are definitely rock solid phones, I feel if I took a sledge hammer to one it would still work...
