I just read the thread776-1046963, we are planning more or less the same: the W2k installation has a few problems with the FibreChannel (I already asked about status checks here), that's why we want to install another host with W2k3 to replace the old master.

Does anybody have a more detailed roadmap, how to move the master to another host? Or does anybody know which files should I copy, to have at least the configuration and the cataloge? I am sure this is documented somewhere, but if you don't know the keywords it's hard to find. Any links to Veritas whitepapers are welcome!

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards, Franz

just found some hints in the TroubleShoot Guide. Do I need more than the
install_path\NetBackup\db
install_path\NetBackup\var
install_path\Volmgr\databas

I would install Netbackup on your new server off of the network (due to the NBU server needing to have the same name) and then do a bprecover of all images from your catalog backup. This will completely recover your system. You will need to redo your robot and drives but should get you started on replacing the server.

thanks for your post. we will try this. as long as the old server is still available we have a fallback solution
