My master and media server are running 4.5FP5. The 4.5FP5 client tarball is failing on the Linux 3.0. According to Veritas 4.5FP5 does not support RH 3.0. so I built a 4.5FP6 tarball. I installed the tarball on the new linux systems and backup/restore are running fine with no errors. Since the linux clients are working fine with 4.5FP6. Is there still a need to upgrade my master and media server to 4.5FP6?

Thanks,
JAQ

i would plump for FP8. About a year ago we went from 3.4 to 4.5FP6; we suffered a lot of tape positioning errors over the last year, which where fixed in FP7, so i just went for the latest - FP8. Not a single problem in a fortnight (touch wood). Which basically means i just haven't experienced any new bugs i mean features yet :)

Just because the Veritas documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact

pah! - i spoke too soon. 2 more write errors and a position error, Argh!. Could well be valid errors though. Can i really waste the time (i mean progress another fault call!) calling support. In the immortal words of Macauley Culkin in Home Alone - 'i don't think so'
