I have a MICS with 7.0 software. First two PRI's are in slot 1 and 2 of main cabinet working great. 3rd DTI card is in slot 1 of trunk mod(and is only card present). Trunk mod is in port 8 of 6 port combo in slot 1. From what I read that is correct so far. The card is dropping calls badly. I'm figuring it is a timing issue. Should I have another combo card or clocking card in slot 2 of the MICS. Am I correct in thinking that the 3rd DTI should get clocking from a second combo card in slot 2. Any advice would be great. Just a note when I look in programming of the 3rd DTI card, it does not give me a clocking choice of primary or secondary? Thought that was odd.

Thanks
Kevin

believe if u got 3 t,s and 1 clock/sevice/combo you are going to have issues and 3rd t1 on norstar wont give choice...think on bcm it will

Its recommended to have 2 service cards for 2 DTI's so I would assume a 3rd DTI would need another clocking source.

Just want to update the thread with a result for future searches. Seems as though people get the answers, and keep them to themselves.

As D Milden said in the post above the installer guide does suggest if you have 2 or more DTI cards you a encouraged to use 2 sevice cards to be able to get proper clocking. Especially in systems that have a large call volume.

So here is what I did.
I upgraded the system from standard MICS 7.0 software to XC 7.0 software. Which went well.

I also added a 6 port combo card which was my second clocking source. I had the 8th port open on the first combo and hooked the trunk mod with the 3rd DTI card to that port. Once I brought the 3rd pri back in service everything worked great. No more dropped calls. Seems like the real answer is to make sure on call volume to configure the system for enough clocking.

Thanks to Lugerlover and Dmilden for responding and helping

Not to throw a wrench in the spokes and glad you got it working but. I think in the book it was referring to adding a 2nd Combo card for DTMF and not clocking. Don't get me wrong you can have 2 if you want but all you should need is one Clocking card in the system. The 3rd DTI card does not give a clocking selection because there are no 3rd choices for clocking there is only a Primary and Secondary choice. All T1's in the system get there clocking from the Primary clock source and if it fails then they go to the secondary source. Bottom line is it's working now so all is great. Hope everyone has a good Holiday.
