3rd party Linux box recommendations

Just wondering what others are using for 3rd party equipment to run the Applications Server on?

When the Applications DVDs included CentOS 5.x I didn't have any problems using an affordable Supermicro 1U server. Since CentOS6.0 is utilized now, I unable to use the same model I was using.

I'm very surprised to hear that a PC which worked on CentOS 5 won't work on 6. Does the whole install fail or is it just a NIC driver problem?
