Does anyone know if there are settings for 3D acceleration, or do these come from the driver for the video card? I have a new matrox video card, windows XP pro. Thanks for any help.

What kind of settings? everything is handeled by the drivers. There are apps like powerstrip that allows you to adjust some of the settings. But again that depends on what you are trying to do.

Enable and disable graphics acceleration -> Dxdiag.exe

Increase and decrease graphics acceleration -> Right click on the Desktop, click Properties, click Settings, click Advanced, click the Troubleshoot tab.

All other graphics settings -> Right click on the Desktop, click Properties, click Settings, click Advanced, click your video card's tab.

Settings in the BIos will let you tweak the card also. 1 is 2x, 4x, 8x, AGP settings and others. Not sure what type of card you have or what Mobo, but if its a major vendor machine (i.e..IBM, Dell, Compaq, HP...) forget the BIOS they won't let you tweak it, and all the settings would be in your cards drivers setting inside the Display Properties --> Settings-->Advanced--> adapter sheet.

thanks for the help guys, I'm pretty sure this is a driver problem. The card is a matrox mystique G200. I downloaded the unified driver for this card from the matrox site but it must be the wrong one (5.82.018) I must need the unified bios drivers. Will check it out later. Thanks again.
