hi i have 3995 library connectetd with P650 system by SCSI
i have install TSM 5.2 and decalre the library in smit
but the problem is the the speed of the backup is very very slow (<1Mo/s)
i dont know if i will configure the scsi card or the library.
i have a 3853 libraury when i compare the speed betwen this two library the 3883 is very speed and the 3995 is very bad speed

The speed is not a problem of the library but of the drives or the connections to the drives.

but what is the solution to resolve this problem
i will to chage the parameters for the scsi card in smitty

you're not giving much info on how you know it's the library or what you've tried or not tried. I would recommend starting at square one and doing the following:

1. rule out the network as being a contributing factor. FTP/scp a large file (100MB or more preferrably) from the client you're backing up to the TSM server. It must be done with the 2 machines you're having problems with. This takes TSM and your devices out of the loop. Make sure there is no additional disk or OS load that could contribute to slow speeds. Is it speedy?

2. confirm it is something to do with the library. Create a small disk pool within TSM and run your backup directly to the disk pool. Is this speedy?

3. The next step i'd recommend is doing a tar dump to some media in your library when TSM is not running. See if you can get expected device speeds doing this. That should confirm that at least the OS and SCSI connections are healthy and it's something in TSM itself.

i will be surprised if you do 1-3 and do not find a problem.
