Honestly there is normally two ways. Sometimes you can get away with just an ip address and the defaults within ios will be just fine.
For instance
interface Serial4/1
description MY DS3 Link - Sprint (DS-3) PL#5553453452
ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
dsu bandwidth 44210
scramble
framing c-bit
cablelength 10
serial restart-delay 0
