Hi Guys,

I have recently had a 3904 delivered as an extra phone for our reception, I configured this phone and tested the config with a handset we already have here and it is fine. The new phone that arrived for this position does not get anything on the screen when plugged in as well as no beep and no red light on the top. I have tried this phone on several different ports with several different config's. Any phones we had previously work on any of the configurations i have created but this phone does not. It seems simple, phone dead on arrival. We had another phone delivered this phone was exactly the same and now we are onto the 3rd phone. All with the same issue.

I have tried disabling and reenabling the TN and if i try an IDU i just get a timeout, all of the phones current and new are release 5, firmware 8.9, 3904 phones with a feature expansion module, i have tried the phones with and without the feature expansions.

Am i just being really unlucky with broken phones or have i missed something ?

Thanks in advance.

Adam

does it work directly off the frame? is the cable to the phone ok?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

yes i have tried it directly into the TN and we have tried 3 different phones each with their own cable. Thanks

I just want to make sure I have not missed anything as I have only recently started working with this switch and I have not done much training on them at all, most of my knowledge is self trained. Thanks again tho guys

So from the socket outlet and the distribution frame you get the same issue, including using different phone leads?

The switch can't see the phone when plugged in when no IDU response, try a reversal on the TN pair, but polarity shouldn't be an issue with 3904's?

You say you've tried different Digital Card TN's aswell with workers ie swapped?

Cheers!!

A reversal on the TN Pair ?
The phones we have here work on any of the TN's I have configured, the new phones do not, I have tested them on different configurations on different cards, ports, cables and I have tried all of the phones and none of them work. Yet any of the phones we have already work on any of the configurations no problems, plug in and go.
Please can you explain swapping workers ?

Thanks again.

Adam

The definitive test is to replace any currently working digital series telephone and see if you at least have dial tone on your new 3904.

If you have a working phone today, unplug it from the bottom of the phone and use that line cord into your new phone.

If you don't have dial tone, your phone is defective.

If you do have dial tone, but the functionality is wrong, then you need to program a TN that is TYPE 3904.

The system programming needs to match the phone type.

Thanks Gene, I have tried this and come to the conclusion that the phones ( all 3 of them ) are faulty, with my inexperience in configuring this switch I was worried I had missed something silly.
Thanks everyone.

Right guys looks like a bad batch of phones, I got another phone from another company, plugged it in and away it went. Must have been my bad luck. I will touch wood whenever buying phones in the future, Thanks for the help guys
