hi all..

i successfully setup my 3640 cisco router with Cisco's EasyVPN setup guide located at:

i can connect and authenticate quite well, but the connection is sooooooo slow, even on my own 100Mbps LAN.. just getting mail off my POP server can take several minutes, which would take seconds without the VPN connection..

i have tried all possible MTU values, right from as low as 900 to as high as 1500, with everything else in between, but the speed doesn't improve..

is it possible the router can't handle the VPN connection...?.. it's a 3640 with 128MB DRAM..

all help appreciated..

You may want to try different switching paths. By default routers do process switching, I would try with fast switching and see if that improves. There is also an AIM card which improves VPN performance in case you have the budget. BTW fast switching is enabled with the ip route-cache command.

i already had CEF enabled on all my interfaces.... this had no effect at all...

all help appreciated..
