3550 to Dell 3024 VLAN question

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a Cisco 3550 and a Dell 3024 to exchange VLAN information? I want to have the Dell run a subnet of users that can only connect to the main network via the 3550. I want to segment the traffic on the 3550 to pass it along so that that subnet can only get to the internet.

The problem seems to be that the Dell switch only supports GVRP for VLAN trunking, and the Cisco only supports VTP.

If anyone knows how I can do this, please let me know.

P.s. I am already aware of using ACLs on the 3550 to limit the traffic that comes in from the Dell switch to just the IPs of the subnet in question. Then disallowing that traffic out any other ports aside from the one going to the internet. I only want to use this as a last resort.

thanks.

Just setup the Cisco to use 802.1q encapsulation and set the port to be "switchport mode trunk".

The Dell should learn the 802.1q VLANS that the Cisco has, but if it doesn't you can manually add them. Just make sure the 802.1q VLAN ID's match exactly.
