Hello

I've got a strange situation here where I need to setup a new switch about 70 feet away from my other 3500's. We're using VoIP phones that are powered by the switches.. anyway, what I'm wondering, is there a way to still chain those switches when they're so far away? I've only used the giga stack switches that go right on top of one another... can i just use a plain patch cable to uplink it or what??

Thanks

Yes you can use a plain 100mb uplink if that will suffice for your bandwidth requirements..

I'd recommend doing a fiber link, or at least getting some 1000BaseT gbics..

So can i just uplink that in any port of the switch? Or do i have to run it to that gig port?

yes, any port for 100mb

if you want gig, you have to use the gbic ports..
