Hi all,
must say I'm normaly a more arcserve using type of chap (not out of choice, mind!), but one of my clients has something I've never seen on veritas, (let alone arcserve..)
Windows2k server (with exchange): In total around 30gb of data. Backs up using 9.1 to a DDS3 tape drive (12/24Gb)..
Whoever set the job up must have prayed to god that day as it works - hardware compresison is sitting showing 3.16:1 and on a native capicity 12gb tape it uses around 9.5gb to backup the 30gb of data....
I doubt arcserve would even have had a look at this ratio.. just wondering if anyone else has seen this and is it telling me the truth?

Thanks.

If that's true, just keep praying....it seems to be working.

I have never seen nor heard of that type of compression with BE. Have you tried restoring a tape to see if it really backed anything up?
