Is it even humanly possible to put WIN98, 2000 and XP Pro on a single partitioned hard drive? I can get any 2 of these to work together, but not all 3. I've tried using just Windows routines as well as Partition Magic Pro 8.
All the recommendations on dual-/multi-booting seen in the MS Knowledge Base articles specify each OS in its own partition and install in the order of oldest to newest OS with Win9x/ME having to be on the boot/system drive [C:].
Win2000 and WinXP really don't care which partition they are on as long as it's not the same one Win9x/ME are on.
Using a third-party software such as BootMagic [comes with PartitionMagic] or System Commander can be helpful.
Keeping all the partitions formatted as FAT32 allows Win95B/95C/98/98SE/ME to work with them.
1. Boot from 98 boot floppy, create a partition using fdisk big enough for 98 leaving room for 2k & xp. Reboot, format & install 98 on partition.
2. Boot from 2k install CD. Use its tools to create second partition, and install 2k on it.
3. Boot from XP install CD. Use its tools to create third partition, and install XP on it.
Voila - 3 operating systems with a menu to choose which to boot - not difficult (as mentioned, make all partitions fat32 if you want 98 to see 2k/XP - or go to
